The use of chloramines and chlorines to disinfect water by municipal water treatment plants makes the water safe to come to our tap. However, the use of these disinfectants leads to taste and odor issues, not only that, but chloramines must be removed from water used in the production of soft drinks and fisheries, but they are still readily in our tap water.
The “TOCC” system uses a special catalytically enhanced carbon media that efficiently removes the chlorine and chloramines from the water. Regular granular activated carbon media has a less catalytic activity which only partially removes chloramines from the water. In controlled laboratory testing, evidence shows that the TOCC system provides high chloramine removal capacity with the special media filter used in our products.

A study from Johns Hopkins raises newfound concerns about the most common water treatment found in tap water. Researchers identified new toxic and carcinogenic byproducts that are produced when chlorine is added to regular drinking water. These findings were published in the peer-reviewed journal Environmental Sciences & Technology.
